47 Hours to Lift Off

Thu Tu (Wednesday)

Vietnamese word of the day:
doi giay: shoes

I've been having this recurring dream (nightmare) in which I arrive in Vietnam only to realize that I forgot to pack any shoes or socks...I know that somewhere in there is an in depth psychoanalysis waiting to be had.

I leave for 10 months in Vietnam in 41 hours. I'll be going via my dad's truck to Philadelphia, then via Delta from Philadelphia to Atlanta, Atlanta to Seoul, Seoul to Hanoi. 27 Hours in the air...they better have some good nuts. And gin!

In the meantime:

Packing. Packing. Packing. (Books. Clothes. Bug Spray.)
Reading. Reading. Reading. (Where to go?! What to do!? How to say?!)
Checking. Checking. Checking. (Passport. Visa. Underwear.)
Goodbying. Goodbying. Goodbying. (Friends. Family. Lady.)

There are about a million things get done, and my to-do lists have sprung multi-tiered sub-lists, and my sub-lists have more circles and arrows than an NFL playbook. I know I'm over-complicating things, but my love for checking things off is just too strong.

Now I'm going to go make a VERY IMPORTANT THINGS NOT TO LOSE OR ELSE I MAY NOT BE ALLOWED BACK IN THE STATES EVER list....
